A Keiki's Dream program creates a "dream come true" for children in Maui County, ages 4 - 14 years, who face a crisis of any nature - abuse, neglect, homelessness, catastrophic medical problem, major loss extreme dysfunction, etc. BORP-Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program provides challenging and innovative sports, fitness and recreation programs to individuals with physical disabilities and visual impairments in the SF Bay Area. Funds provided to help replace fleet of approximately 35 adaptive bicycles. Additional Funds were provided to support the Youth Sports Program. Boys and Girls Clubs of American Canyon Provided funds for: a computer lab, to purchase and show instructional videos for the homework club, and the purchase of audio and video equipment. Chibi-Chan Preschool offers a nurturing and stimulating environment for children ages 2 to 5 years old. The staff believes in supporting the individual development of each child and introduces new concepts according to ability and age. Chibi-Chan also believes in fostering independence by giving children opportunities to make decisions on their own, as well as exposing them to a diverse array of experiences to establish the foundation for future learning. Children's Hospital Oakland The mission of Children's Hospital Oakland is to ensure the delivery of high quality pediatric care for all children through regional primary and subspecialty networks, a strong education and teaching program, a diverse workforce, state of the art research programs and facilities, and nationally recognized child advocacy efforts. Funds were provided to enhance the Child Life Program. Classroom on Wheels (COW Bus) program provides free preschool education to children ages 3 to 5 years in several low-income areas in Reno. COW is expanding their program to meet the needs of four additional low-income neighborhoods. Disabled Sports USA- Far West Founded by disabled veterans, the organization helps improve the quality of life for disabled people by providing sports and recreational activities. Discovery Arts- Funds for the Arts Adventure Program which will provide Super Hero costumes and bedside adventure kits to children hospitalized for treatment of cancer and other life threatening illnesses. Education Resources and Service Center is a dynamic model community resource center for youth that provides life changing personalization services and programs to individuals from "At Risk" conditions of poverty, abuse, learning, emotional, developmental and/or medical disabilities. Girl's Inc. is an organization inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold through an economic literacy project, an in house technology center and other programs. Kristi was a keynote speaker at the Girls Inc. 40th Anniversary Celebration, donated computers to the technology center and hosted a special holiday event at Girls Inc. to kick off their foundation's new grant making initiative. Additional funds have been provided to support the "GIRLStart" Program. Indochinese Housing Development Corporation -serves primarily the Southeast Asian immigrant community in San Francisco's Tenderloin. Their mission is to help create a vibrant and dignified community through the purchase, renovation, maintenance and management of safe, comfortable and affordable housing. Funds were provided to enhance activities and programs for children. Joy of Sports Foundation Provide equipment for Bay Area Star Power for Preschoolers Program. The program focuses on helping children from low income families develop in five key areas: concentration, relaxation, cooperation, imagination, and self-esteem. JCYC Children's Summer Programs is a multi-service agency, which serves children and youth throughout San Francisco. Some services include educational counseling, substance and physical abuse prevention and education, preschool education, & youth employment training. My Friend's Place mission is to inspire and assist homeless and high-risk youth and their children to build stable, self-sufficient lives. My Friend's Place develops trust-based relationships with these difficult to reach, high-risk youth in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Individualized one-on-one programs and creative, educational, and therapeutic services awaken in homeless youth their sense of personal worth and potential. National Youth Enterprise Institute assists Oakland area high schools learn how to operate a business. Our grant helped purchase computer equipment to assist students in writing their business plans and in operating their business. Pacific Lifeline Long Term transitional shelter for woman and children that works to prevent chronic homelessness by empowering women in crisis to rebuild their lives and regain financial independence. Parents Helping Parents is a family resource center that serves children with special needs, their families, and the professionals who serve them. This includes children of all ages and backgrounds who have a need for special services due to illness, accidents, birth defects, allergies, premature birth, etc. Real Options for City Kids- serving the children of San Francisco's Visitacion Valley, aims to promote the positive development and long-term success of the youth that it serves through a combination of in-school and after school learning enrichment, sports and fitness, leadership training, outdoor adventure, and summer camp opportunities. Sagewind is a private, long term, non-profit treatment center in northern Nevada for adolescents with drug and alcohol problems. Samaritan Neighborhood Center- Student Tutorial Endeavor Program-Provides support system for families of children and youth who are at-risk in Oakland. Shelter Network (San Mateo County)- provides housing and support services that create opportunities for homeless families and individuals to re-establish self-sufficiency and to return to permanent homes of their own. Grant for Childrens' Programs which include after school tutoring, art therapy, and field trips. Shoes That Fit Program- mission is to provide disadvantaged children with shoes and clothing. Unlike most programs that occur only during certain times of the year, Shoes That Fit is an ongoing effort to provide new items directly to children within two weeks or less. Special Recreation Services-Reno Provided camp scholarships to Camp Lotsafun. The camp is designed for children with autism, pervasive developmental disorders and attention deficit hyperactivity disorders Sports4Kids- Equipment for S4K Youth Sports leagues which will serve approximately 650 predominantly low income and minority 4th and 5th grade boys and girls in Oakland, CA. Sports for the World's Children (SWC) Foundation provides new and used sports equipment, instruction, and mentoring programs to children with limited resources through their "Communities Play" Program. Funds were provided for new sports equipment for Community Education Centers providing after school programs for at-risk youth in the Los Angeles County Office of Education. Royal Family Kids' Camp is designed to meet the needs of abused, neglected and abandoned children of the foster care system. Their goal is to provide a safe environment in which they can help create positive memories for these children. San Leandro Boys and Girls Club is a place where children from all backgrounds aged 7-18 come together to play, learn interpersonal and social skills, and to receive help with homework and counseling. Team-Up For Youth- promotes the healthy development of young people by strengthening and expanding after-school sports programs serving low-income young people. Through grant making, training, and advocacy, Team-Up for Youth has made a difference in the lives of more than 8,000 kids in the San Francisco Bay Area through sports. West Coast Children's Center provides quality mental health services that promote the healthy development of children and families through therapy, prevention, education and advocacy regardless of family income. West Coast is committed to training mental health professionals such as graduate interns. UCSF Children's Hospital- with more than 40 specialties providing care tailored for the developing minds and bodies of children, UCSF works to advance the quality of care-and quality of life-for our children. The Palliative Care program, Compass Care, serves critically ill children and their families. YES Reading is an innovative literacy program dedicated to tutoring children of all cultures who are having difficulty learning to read. YES Reading recruits and trains community volunteers to provide one-on-one tutoring for at-risk elementary and middle school students reading significantly below grade level. |
